This year, Orion school in Redwood city will be doing a walk-a-thon to help raise funds for uniforms for children in East Africa. These funds will help support Asante Africa Foundation which works to provide access to quality education to needy children in East Africa. To help get them geared up for their fundraising activities, Cheza Nami recently paid a visit to these students to offer them "a taste of Africa" through interactive activities such as song, dance and instrument exploration. The Children learnt a few words in Swahili, a new dance and had a great time creating their own ensemble using our traditional African instruments. Cheza Nami was delighted to be part of the music around the world program at the Pleasanton public library on February 25th. Patrons and their families were engaged in instrument playing, dress and dance. The Pleasanton Gazette wrote a great article summarizing the event. "...your presentation was very well received and patron feedback was excellent. I for one enjoyed what you did very much. I particularly appreciated the way you had something for everyone, children and adults, and especially your entire team's generous investment of time and willingness to engage with people afterwards..
