The Cheza Nami Foundation presents the 3rd Annual Taste of Africa event

Local Bay Area organization Cheza Nami, is excited to present its 3rd annual extravaganza and adventure into the African culture this October the 19th, 2014 from 2-6pm.

Cheza Nami Foundation, Inc is proud to host a magical afternoon of African art, dance, music, food and fashion at the Bothwell Arts Center in Livermore. For the adults, this year’s event includes an African Marketplace, African drumming and dance, raffle, silent acution and African Fashion Show. For the kids, the event will showcase the Children's Interactive experience in the "The Safari Room", where kids can explore African culture through games, crafts and books. Included in the kiddie exploration event is a chance to encounter our animated mascots, Tano, Mali and Twiga,  as well as have children of all ages indulge in a photo opportunity at the interpretive hut created by the 2014 Kids Diversity & Culture camp participants.

“We are seeing the community rally around this idea of glodal citizenship and cultural diversity. Folks are eager to engage in cultural activities beyond their own and are excited to share their individual cultural backgrounds as they contribute to their global village” states Catherine Ndungu-Case, Founder and CEO of Cheza Nami.

As the 3rd event of its kind, Cheza Nami is proud to have given hundreds of people a way to touch Africa from afar with its last event drawing over 250 people in attendance. Ticket sales, raffle proceeds and donations will go directly and entirely toward supporting local Bay Area youth outreach programs.

Cheza Nami is excited to present, African Fashion show by African Designer Wawi Amasha. Music performance by Piwai. Drumming demonstrations by Ibou  Ngom and Jayson Fann and dancing demostrations by Nancy McClymonds of Living here in the Bay, Dandha da Hora of Sambada,   and master dance teacher Oumou Diamanka. This year, we also welcome members of Livermore Valley Charter Preparatory HighSchool  Black Student Union (BSU), the participating youth Volunteer group as the Taste of Africa 2014 Youth Cultural Ambassadors.
